EHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – Iran’s head of Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) heading a delegation took part in the third Global Standards Symposium (GSS) on 24 October 2016 in Hammamet, Tunisia.
The third Global Standards Symposium took place on 24 October 2016 in Hammamet, Tunisia, one day prior to the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-16). The event brought together thought leaders in the standardization sphere to discuss how standards efforts could best integrate the consideration of security, privacy and trust.
Ali Asghar Amidian, President of Iran’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), headed the Iranian delegation at the Symposium.
“At present, ICT comprises the basis for business and everyday life, and needs to connect billions of objects to the Internet,” Amidian said. “This fact requires a guarantee for the security of communications and data protection.”
He went on to add, “setting regulations by the regulators to create consumer trust, transparency, data protection and privacy, has a deceive role in infrastructures and services.”
“In the GSS, stakeholders try to work together to create an international structure for information security, privacy, and reassurance in the field of Communications and Information Technology,” he said. “Achieving this end requires cooperation among regulators, industrialists and standardization organizations in the field of ICT.”
The 2nd Global Standards Symposium was held on 19 November 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It focused on the intersection of the ICT sector with other vertical sectors such as health care, utilities, and transport.
