The Motorola-made Nexus 6, announced October 15, 2014 and made available in early November, 2014, was the first device released with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s part of the Google Nexus program, and as such, gets timely software updates and doesn’t contain any UI skins or bloatware apps if purchased unlocked through the Google Play store. The Nexus 6 was the most expensive Nexus phone at the time of its release, selling for $649 for the 32GB configuration and $699 for the 64GB model, compared with the $349 starting price of its predecessor, the Nexus 5.
Available in Midnight Blue or Cloud White, the Nexus 6 is a very large phone with a 5.96″ display and a weight of 6.5 oz (184 grams). It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core 64bit CPU and utilizes the Adreno 420 GPU. Supporting the processor is 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The phone offers Qi wireless charging as well as turbo-charging.
Reviewers say: If you can handle the size and weight, the Nexus 6 is a favorite among reviewers thanks to its “vanilla” Android experience, smooth performance, ultra-loud dual front-facing speakers, and solid battery life. The camera is considered to be “good enough” when enough light is present, but many have found the Nexus 6 to be inconsistent in this area.
